Jagannath means "lord of the world" and is the form of
Hindu gods Krishna/Vishnu/ Rama worshipped in Odisha. Odisha is known for its
famous and sacred Jagannath Temple,
which is in Puri. There are four Char Dham and Puri is one of
them. The temple compound covers an area of over 400,000 square feet
(37,000 mt), and is surrounded by a high fortified wall which is 20 feet
(6.1 m) high wall and known as Meghanada Pacheri. Another wall known
as kurma bedha surrounds the main temple. Under the compound area there
are at least 120 temples. Lord

construction and Jaga Mohan or the assembly hall
and Vimana or chariot of the temple were constructed during his
reign. Later Anangabhima Deva completed the construction of the

According to Hindu mythology,
King Indradyumna was a Lunar Dynasty king of Somavamsa lineage. A pilgrim came
before King Indradyumna and described the great God
Nila Madhava (Blue Vishnu) being worshipped at Nilachal
(Blue Mountain) in Odra (Odisha). The pilgrim disappeared after telling
the story. At the king’s request, his priest and his younger brother Vidyapati
went in search of the legendary divinity. Vidyapati reached the forest in
Sabaradwipa on the banks of Mahandi river. The Sabara king, Biswabasu, received Vidyapati and promised to show him
Nila Madhava the next morning. Vidyapati did not touch food or water before
seeing the Lord Nila Madhava. Seeing the excitement of Vidyapati, the Sabara
king had him bathed in Rohini-kunda and seated him under the kalpaw tree.
Vidyapati saw Nila Madhava being worshipped by the Devas. Then Vidyapati
returned to Avanti, the capital of King Indradyumna.Vidyapati’s described to
King Indradyumna, thereafter the King set out for Nila Madhava, along with the
priest, Vidyapati, and his followers. But as it turned out, Nila Madhava had
disappeared on the very next day. Upon reaching the spot, they found the god
missing and the entire area covered with the golden sand of the coast. The
shocked king Indradyumna was apprised of the message of Brahma by Narad :
that the King must worship the deity with one thousandAswamedha Yajnas.
There are many secrete story behind
of Lord Jagannath temple. The outer wall of Jagannath temple is known as
Meghanada Prashire which has a length of 650 ft. from east to west and breath
of 644 ft. from north to south direction. The height of Meghananda Pacheri is
20 ft and thickness of 6ft. the inner wall is known as Kuruma pacheri. The
length of this Kuruma Pacheri is 400 ft from East to West and 278 ft from north
to south direction approximately. Meghananda Pacheri has some specialty that
when the sea was closed to the temple, the entire temple was disturbed by the sound of Sea. Therefore the direction
of lord, a wall has been construction
which is called as Meghananda Pacheri. Inside the temple is very clam and
silence due to Meghananda Pacheri.
Neither the sound of sea nor outside vehicle or any other sound can entered
into the temple premises. Till date science has no answer of that reason.
Another secrete story is
“MAHAPRASAD”. The temple kitchen (Khanda sala or rosha Ghara) has got
the capacity to cook for
a lakh of devotees on a day. Mahaprasad is cooked only in earthen pots and using fire wood as fuel. The cooked food is offered to
Lord Jagannath first
and then to Bimalaa Debi after which it becomes Mahaprasad. Till date there is
no reason how and what process the item are prepared without any person. As per
hindu Mythology, Goddess come and make ready the items at right time and after
complete of cook, the fire automatically terminate.
Among them a big
Mysteries story i.e. secrete chamber in the temple which has no key. The protector
of the secrete chamber is Snakes. This Secrete chamber has not been opened
since last 400 years. This chamber is very sensitive and this chamber only can
open by “Garuda Mantra” and lord Loknath ( lord Shiva) himself is the
protector of this chamber. The Secrete
chamber could not open by the British Ruler.
There are 4 door to entry into
the temple i.e. Utara parsho, dakhina
parsho, purba parsho and paschima parsho. There are 22 steps ( Baisi Pahacha) On utara parsho dwaro (Lion’s gate or

, 6. Rajani , 7. Ratika , 8.Raohi , 9. Krodha , 10. Bajrika , 11Prasarani

,18. Mandanti , 19. Rohini , 20. Gamya , 21 . Ugra , 22 , Khorini. it is the faith in
God which eventually counts. A devotee gets a sense of fulfillment, if he
innocently ( clean heart) puts on his forehead a speck of dust from the surface
of the steps.
Sudarshan Chakar
is top of the temple. This chakra has important that on which side you will
see, you feel it is the equal. Every materials has shadow but lord jagannath
temple has no shadow. Even birds are not
flying on air space over the temple.
Most important
thing is that the main priest(Bada panda) of the temple has important role. If
the bada panda has not seen lord Jagannath on his palm of water till then the
door of lord Jagannath is closed on morning time. The regular Charity start, after
seen lord on his palm of Bada Panda and
there after the door open for the devotee.
Every year prior
to the Rath Yatra, collect the coconut
water with karpura and use the said coconut and karpura at the time of
bathing. Normally composition of coconut
water and karpura is poison but here in temple it is not
poison. Till day the science has not answer.
'Brahma padarthas' are core
materials in the four wooden deities of Sri Jagannath temple. These core materials are transferred from
the old idols to the new in a metaphor of immortality of soul. The old person
among the priest transfer Brahma from old ideal to new idea by hand but till
date no one knows how big size is, whether that is solid or liquid, whether
that us hard or soft. The said priest may die within 7 days from the date of
transfer of Brahma.
The flag of the
temple has also some important. The flag always fly opposite direction of air.
The science has no answer till date. But we call all these things are mahima of
lord.
