1.  



MMYSORE PALACE

The first famous attraction palace is Taj Mahal and thereafter  this palace is the second most famous attraction palace in the list of top attraction palace. The present Wadiyar family Palace building, which is now stands, was designed in the Indo-Saracenic style  using stone and marble. Due to the numerous renovations, the three-storage building of grey granite is now a unify of Islamic, Gothic and Rajput styles of architecture. It also includes a 145 ft-high, five-storey tower with a gold-plated dome, two durbar halls, and the royal family’s living quarters.

The destiny of the Mysuru Palace was in the hand of Queen Regent Kempanan Jammanni Vanivilasa Sanndihana and on behalf of Queen the British architect Henry Irwin constructed a new palace that would be a tribute to the legacy of Mysuru. A three storied structure in the Indo-Saracenic style started construction in the year1897 and completed in the year 1912 with a cost of Rs. 41,47,913.

 



2.   SRI CHAMARAJENDRA ZOOLOGICAL GARDENS

This zoo is popularly known as Mysore Zoo. Due to the cold atmosphere, this place is very popular than other zoo and many school, college and animal lover visit this place at large. This zoo is located on the road towards the Chamundi Hills only 2 km from Mysore Palace and was established by Chamarajendra Wadiyar Bahadur in 1892 and today there is approximately 1350 numbers of animals available.

Opening time: Entire week open from 8.30 AM to 5.30 PM except Tuesday and Holidays.

 


3.   CHAMUNDESHWARI TEMPLE AND CHAMUNDI HILLS

Chamundi Hills is very popular for two reasons one is the famous temple Chamundeshwari is located and 360 degree view of total Mysore can seen here. This temple Maa Durga is the presiding deity. The temple was built by Hoysala Rulers during 12th century and tower was built by Vijayangar during 17th century.



The art of the temple is very attractive and the surrounding  of the temple is also best place for everybody.  Here you may find the statue of King of Lanka (Ravan). When I was there at 10 Am, I feel the fog. You cannot imagine such type of place is available in India.

 


4.   ST. PHILOMENA’S CATHEDRAL

St. Philomena's Church is located in Mysore, 1.8 miles from Mysore Palace.The twin spires of the church towering over the trees and houses grab attention. St. Philomena’s Church is one of the largest churches in India, and was first built in 1843 to serve the British officers stationed at Mysore and Srirangapatna. It was initially a simple, wooden structure for over a century, before plans were laid down for a new, majestic structure in 1933. The present church, completed in 1936, was designed by the French architect, Daly, in the Neo Gothic style, and is modeled after the Cologne Cathedral in Germany. St. Philomena’s Cathedral is a Catholic church that is the cathedral of the Diocese of Mysore. The full name is the Cathedral of St. Joseph and St. Philomena.

 

5.   BRINDAVAN GARDEN

This garden has been attracted the Tourist. this garden is located near KRS Dam (Krishna Raja Sagara Dam). The construction of this gardens were completed in the year of 1932 and Spread over 60 acres of land, Brindavan Gardens consist of three terrace gardens which are illuminated during evenings.

Opening Time: every day from 6.00 am to 8.00 pm

Music Fountain show timing: Monday to Friday from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm and Saturday & Sunday from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm

6.   KARANJI LAKE

 

This lake if one of the major lake among other four lakes. This lake is created by nature and the Government of Karanatak and Assian Development Bank have invested the money for development and around 3.8 Milion dollar have been invested. The present lake is after the said development.

  The total area is 90 Hectors of land. out of 90 hectors, 35 hectors of land is covered by the Karanji Lake. The lake is a beautiful place where you may get different species of birds, waterfall Butterfly Park etc

Opening time :-  from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM every day except on Tuesdays

 

 

 

7.   RAILWAY MUSEUM

There are two railway Museum in India one is at Mysore and another is National Railway Museum at Delhi. The locomotives  train are find place In this museum. This museum was established by Indian Railways in the year of 1979. One can easily understand the history of Train in India. Here you may find different type of engine and their period and use. It is a rare museum in India.

Opening time: 10 AM to 5 Pm.

8.   REGIONAL MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY MYSORE

This Museum has developed on 20 5-1995 by the government of India, ministry of environment and forests which is located on the bank of Karanji Lake and the Chamundi Hill you may seen from this Museum also. This museum is established for the promoting of conservation education during 6th plan of the Regional offices of this Museum.   

In this museum you may find different type of biology drawings of different species of animals which may help of the Kids to understand easily and for the science students. The said drawings have been created by using crow quill nib and Indian ink.



9.   BYLAKUPPE BUDDHIST GOLDEN TEMPLE

Golden temple is located at Bylakuppe which is 80 Km distance from Mysore City where lord Buddha is the presiding deity. This religional place is the biggest Tibetan settlement outside of Tibet. This religional place establish in the year 1933 by Pema Norbu Rinpoche. Dur to the arts of this location attracts the visitors to this place. but one problem is this location is out of Mysore City.

10. SOMNATHPUR TEMPLE

This temple is located 35 Km from Mysore. The temple was build by King Narasimha II during the year of 1268. At present this side is maintained by Archae
