GODDESS KICHAKESWARI TEMPLE

The North Odisha “ Khiching” village is famous for two reasons one is for ancient temple of Maa (Goddess) Kichakeswari and another for a centre of stone carving on the black granite or muguni stone for black. This site is located  at about 150 Km from Baripada, Mayurbhanja District of Odisha. The village is well known for the temple of Goddess Kichakeswari, presiding deity of Bhanja Dynasty and is located at the heart of the village.

The temple of Goddess Kichakeswari is whispered on this holy place and has its own historical importance also. This site is also very famous for its structure  on the archaeological point of view.

TEMPLE

  Particularly the Bhanja Dynasty were devoted and worshiped Sakti (Kichakeswari or Chamunda) as presiding deity. The temple was built during 9th century by Bhanja Dynasty with the help of Black Stones. The image of Maa Kichakeswari being worshipped as the main temple at Khiching. The present structure was built (renovation) by Maharaja Prataap Chandra Bhanja in 1934 and the total expenses was Rs. 85,000/- during that time.

At present in village Khiching has 3 temple such as Maa (Goddess) Kichakeswari, Maa (Goddess) Kutaitundi and Lord Chandrasekhar. Due to ancient temple and black stone this place is famous for tourist attraction.

The north Odisha / Orissa is well known for its unique architecture and crave on stone. The height of the temple is arount 100 ft.  the present temple is the renovation temple. The ancient temple was destroyed due to climatic changes. Goddess Chamunda is worshiped as Goddess Kichakeswari.

The Idol of Goddess Chamunda is seated on a Daitya (Demon) with ten arms.

BHIMA GADA

Another interesting point is the Bhima Gada. This place is attached to ancient holy script i.e. Mahabharata. The campus of the temple is huge space in this campus you may find a Iron rod which is called Bhima’s Gada. A mythology story is inside of the Gada. If someone carry this Iron rod and turn round the monument, the sins will be forgives and the wish may fulfil. The tourist of this spot are taken their chance with very interest.

 

TOURIST ATTRACTION NEAR KHICHING VILLAGE

There are numerous extraordinary vacationer places near to the Village Khiching that may be visited such as the Jashipur, Jwalamukhi temple, Haripur, Manatri and Rairangapur. And another thing is that in this museum has placed a statue of lion which look like as real lion standing in the glass house.

Baitarani River has passed near this temple which one is a best picnic place. During the winter period, large numbers of group are come this place for enjoyment and picnic. This place is best for natural scenario.

HOW TO REACH KHICHING VILLAGE

By Road- There are numerous Buses available from Baripada Station, Keonjhar, Rairangpur, Jashipur and Karanjia are available for the Village Khiching.

By Rail – Baripada is the nearest Railway station to the Khiching Village. Other railway stations which are closer to the Khiching Village are the Balasore, Keonjhar and the Tata Nagar railway stations.

By Air – Sonari Airport at Jamshedpur is said to be one of the closest airport to the Khiching Village located at a distance of around 146 km. Other nearest Air terminals are the Biju Patnaik International Airport at Bhubaneswar and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International at Kolkata.
